1/27/2024 0 Comments Hammerfight torrentI see people here have been modifying files etc and even buying new graphics cards, but IMO it's not acceptable to have to do that when you have paid for the game. So, in summary, I have 2 games that are completely unplayable, one that works but messes with my my GUI, one which works but the controller (mouse) is extremely jerky, and one that seems so far to work well. Hammerfight - Game is playable and seems kinda fun but mouse is really jerky and not smooth, no matter on how I calibrate it or turn on/off multi-mouse.Īnd yet it Moves - the only game that looks like it has had some proper effort put in on the linux side of things. VVVVVV - works but screws up my Ubuntu GUI when I quit. Music keeps cutting out as often has it can be heard. The rest of the games show obvious signs that they're simple ports from Windows, and poor ones at that.Ĭrayons - loads a title screen eventually but is so slow and completely unusable, eg can't even get to play it.Ĭogs - only get a title screen but can't play. I would only say one of these developers is making a real effort on the Linux platform, and that would be the makers of 'And yet it moves'. I bought the HIB #3 the other day, excited to be helping out developers making software for Linux as well as helping charity. At least I could not get a hang on it when playing a few minutes. If you are one of the old 8 bit guys (like I basically am) you might get a hold on this but I rather enjoy playing games with nice graphics now. I primarily bought Crayon for my little one but spent 2 1/2 hourse playing it this afternoon :D IMO ATI will be (again) a valid option if the radeon open source drivers have settled more but for now I would suggest to everyone willing to game under Linux to use a NVidia based card.Īlso some games didn't look too promising to me I grabbed the bundle. I recently removed the HD4670 from my system because of HD video playback issues (playback stuttering). This is on a NVidia 7900GS with propritary drivers though. Hm, all games including Hammerfall worked fine for me. OT: is Nvidia still the way to go for Linux? This gpu is from when I still used windows. I re-installed catalyst, and it was still buggy. I was playing SC2 and it started glitching out also.
